The heatsink pad is visible on this photo; the top cover had an integrated heatsink that fitted over the metal shroud covering the CPU and RAM chips. It worked as both a heatsink and RF shield. The Wi-Fi adaptors were also connected to the heatsink via heat transfer pads.
